Travel To The Mysterious City of Yalta

The seaside city of Yalta lies in the Black Sea Coast of the Crimean peninsula in the Ukraine. With its humid subtropical climate and mountain peaks filled with vineyards and orchards, the city has become a popular recreation spot for European travelers who are seeking a good alternative to other Mediterranean resorts.
If Yalta's beautiful coastline is not reason enough for you to go and explore it, then the city's dramatic history and mixture of cultural influences will surely capture your interest and imagination. The influence of ancient civilizations like Greek, Roman, and Byzantine and the former Russian rule contributed to the city's colorful past, impressive architecture and distinct way of life. Aside from enjoying the coast and the beautiful beaches, be sure to visit some of resort town's notable attractions during your stay.
On your first day in the Yalta, head out to the Sea Promenade overlooking the gorgeous Black Sea. This premier tourist attraction is loaded with restaurants, cafes and nightclubs, which feature the most talented musicians and artists in the region. To get the most amazing views of the picturesque city, climb up the hills to the mountains.
However, if you don't feel like sweating it out, then you can always take a cable car going up Mount Ai Petri, the second highest peak in the Crimean peninsula. A day tour around Yalta must include a visit to the Nikitsky Botanical Gardens. Nikitsky is no ordinary garden as it grows more than 25,000 species of plants, trees and garden roses, which originated from all over the world.
One of Yalta's and the world's most significant political meetings was the 1945 Yalta Conference, where the three most influential political figures of that time; Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin made resounding decisions about World War II. To reminisce this historical moment, visit Livadia Palace; the former Romanov vacation residence and the venue for the monumental conference.
Another amazing architectural building worth visiting is the Massandra Palace, which is complemented with a huge magnificent park. While in the area, go for a wine tasting tour and try the world-renowned Crimean wine at the Massandra Winery and Vaults, and the Magarach Wine Institute.
Yalta's beaches and romantic landscape have not only attracted ordinary vacationers but also famous personalities like the celebrated writer Anton Chekhov, who made the town his home. The great writer's former residence called the White Dacha was transformed into a house museum. Drop by 112, Kirova Street, where the museum is situated to pay homage to Chekhov's great literary masterpieces especially "The Cherry Orchard", "The Lady with the Little Dog" and "Three Sisters", which were all written during Chechov's stay in Yalta.
If you love castles and romantic tales, then you will surely fall in love with Swallow's Nest. When you take a boat ride to the site, you will be treated to the sight of a magical-looking castle dramatically nestled at the edge of a rock cliff, overlooking the roaring sea. To further indulge your fairytale fantasies, stop by the Glade of Fairytales, hidden in a luscious forest reserve, in the Poliana Skazokt area. This open air museum can bring out the child in you as it features 300 funny-looking sculptures representing characters from Ukrainian, Russian and Western folklore and fairytales.
